Sarah Haas Otts

Otts grew up in Mobile, Alabama where she attended St. Paul’s Episcopal School. She graduated from The University of Mississippi where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in painting. During college, she studied watercolor in London, England. Currently, Otts works as a full time artist in her midtown Mobile studio. In addition to painting, she teaches art lessons to adults and children.

The most imperative part of my process is obtaining fresh and active layers of marks and color. My paintings imply the energy within life. I am interested in the subtleties of nature’s color and movement. Fluid brush stokes and bold applications of paint render the stimulating energy that surrounds us. There are implications of light and reflections throughout many of my paintings which provide contrast and visual emphasis.
